A programme of the Le French May Arts Festival
Definitely a star to watch – French pianist Remi Geniet won Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition at just 20 years old in 2013, and received Diapason d’Or de l’Annee with his all-Bach début album in 2015. He has collaborated with numerous orchestras worldwide and has appeared at prestigious festivals including La Roque d’Antheron and La Folle Journee.
In his Hong Kong début, Geniet will join hands with Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Music Director Yip Wing-sie in the breathtaking Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 2. The concert also features the Asian premiere of Hark the Phoenix Solitaire Cry. Written for Hong Kong’s foremost sheng performer Loo Sze-wang by Chan Hing-yan, the work creates an atmospheric sound world across musical boundaries.
