On the anniversary of Mozart’s birthday, the Monteverdi ensembles present an evening of profoundly emotive music, with two of Mozart’s most loved works performed on period instruments. This concert is the culmination of the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists’ tour of Europe’s major concert venues.
Composed just before Mozart’s death in 1971, Symphony no.40 is characterised by wistful, lyrical strings. In contrast, the Requiem opens with a broad, passionate lament, and allows the Choir to fully display its great virtuosity.
