With triumphant performances for the Royal Opera and Glyndebourne behind her, rising German soprano Christiane Karg now makes her Proms debut. She is joined by pianist Malcolm Martineau for a musical voyage in song. They visit Greece in the heady love songs of Ravel’s ‘Greek popular songs’, the exotic East in Koechlin’s Shéhérazade settings and Spain in Guridi’s darkly beautiful Castilian songs, before heading closer to home with a jaunty stroll in Hyde Park courtesy of Poulenc.
