There’s a wonderful reason why Dvorák’s New World Symphony is so popular – and it’s not just the Hovis ad! RSNO Principal Guest Conductor Thomas Søndergård gets to the heart of every piece he touches: he’ll find all the sadness, the sweetness and the sheer majesty of this much-loved classic. Vilde Frang brings all her insight to Britten’s Violin Concerto, but first, music from another new world: a mini-masterpiece by Brett Dean, the Australian composer who’s got Europe talking.
Thomas Søndergård (Conductor)
Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård is Principal Conductor and Musical Adviser of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. In 2012/13 he will succeed Thierry Fischer as Principal Conductor of BBC National Orchestra of Wales and in the same season will become Principal Guest Conductor of Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Born in 1986 in Norway, Vilde has studied at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, with Kolja Blacher at Musikhochschule Hamburg and Ana Chumachenco at the Kronberg Academy. She plays a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin lent by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Freundeskreis Stiftung.
