This programme has all the freshness and brilliance of a morning in early Spring.
Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez blazes with Spanish sunlight and passion and has a gorgeously lyrical central movement that has been popularised through diverse arrangements such as Miles Davis’s Sketches of Spain album and the 1996 film Brassed Off!
We also bring a focus to female French composers with a work by Elsa Barraine from the early 20th century that deserves to be much more widely known and a piece by Camille Pépin, one of France’s leading living composers. Sibelius’s luminous Third Symphony sounds like a Finnish forest bursting into leaf and closes the concert.
Tickets: £12.00-£38.00
