The Lark Ascending: from dawn to dusk on a spring day.

The natural world has inspired many composers, from Beethoven to Vivaldi. Ben Palmer and the Hallé will take you on a unique journey through a spring day in the country, using a collection of much-loved pastoral-themed masterpieces including works that showcase the talent of the award-winning Latvian violinist, Kristine Balanas. Opening with the first movement of Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony, the outing meanders through a spring morning, past a brook, listening to one very famous lark, a swarm of wasps and a peasants’ dance before culminating in a spring storm and the happiness after it has past.
