This orchestra of Israeli and Arab musicians continues its Beethoven cycle with the Seventh Symphony, a work that runs the emotional gamut from deepest despair to triumphant joy. Also on the program is the “Pastoral” Sixth. With a bucolic “Scene by the Brook” and rousing storm music—made famous as Zeus’s “thunderbolt” music in Fantasia—this tuneful, evocative symphony will have you longing for a springtime trip to the country.

Two down, two to go. Whereas at the 2012 BBC Proms Daniel Barenboim and the West-Easter Divan Orchestra paired the Pastoral symphony with the Fifth, just as Beethoven programmed them in the infamously long concert that premièred them both, here the Pastoral prefaced the Seventh.
