Shooting star Marcos Morau invites you to a hypnotic game centred around flamenco and follows in the footsteps of Colombian photographer Ruven Afanador.

Dance/Flamenco Inspired by Ruven Afanador's expressive flamenco photographs, Marcos Morau explores the relationship between photographic and choreographic composition. In the process, flamenco comes to life in its own mysterious form. Familiar and yet alienated, infused with longing and Eros. With 30 dancers from the Ballet Nacional de España, Marcos Morau conjures up a dark yet lively atmosphere in this large-format spectacle with fleeting images, powerful group choreographies and the constant interplay of light and shadow - inspired by the aesthetics of the Colombian photographer's dramatic black and white motifs. Between classical flamenco music and electronic beats, the choreographer revives these images and merges them into mysterious scenarios.

Marcos Morau is one of the most sought-after choreographers of our time. He has led his own dance company La Veronal since 2004 and has been Artist in Residence at the Staatsballett Berlin since 2023. Morau was last seen in the 2024/2025 season with his acclaimed homage to Ennio Morricone at the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and will be a guest with three productions this season.
