Morton Feldman - Music for Piano and String Quartet

Experience Morton Feldman’s monumental soundscape during a unique yoga experience at the Nieuwe Kerk. As the music slowly unfolds, you can participate in a guided yoga session on a mat or relax and listen from the pews.

In honor of the composer’s 100th anniversary, pianist Vicky Chow and the Mivos Quartet will perform Feldman’s Piano and String Quartet, a pivotal work from the American composer’s late oeuvre. Over the course of ninety minutes, an almost weightless interaction develops between the piano and the strings, in which every sound is carefully weighed. The result is a tranquil, meditative listening experience that is both understated and intense.
