Our 2026-2027 season of Musical Journeys Through Time continues with hops backwards and forwards between 1808 and 1921, and we look forward to opening Classical Sheffield's Weekend Festival. We start in 1894 to witness Debussy’s shimmering Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun - one of three pastoral landscapes in this programme. This is music inspired by the countryside, birdsong and open landscape, each composer capturing the feeling of nature in their own distinctive way. We continue with Vaughan Williams evergreen Lark Ascending and look forward to welcoming Jonathan Martindale for the first time. Finally, the visit the big hitter - Beethoven - for his sumptuous Pastoral Symphony.
