Sheku joins us to play Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1, plus Sibelius’ starkly beautiful Third Symphony and Grieg’s timeless Peer Gynt. Saint-Saëns’ packs energy, exhilaration, charm and passion into his brief 20 minute concerto – we do like that straightforward approach, no airs and graces, just straight into it. Sibelius’s icy Symphony No. 3 is like the musical equivalent of contemporary Scandinavian design – economical with its means but all the better for that simplicity.
Tickets – £5.00 to £53.00
