Romantic piety and passion from Ryan Bancroft and BBC NOW

Von Peter Quantrill, 23. Juli 2026

A rare outing for Szymanowski's Stabat Mater forms the highlight of an imaginatively 'spiritual' Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.

Von Alexander Hall, 17. Dezember 2022

Warsaw Philharmonic in Szymanowski and Beethoven

Von Renée Reitsma, 20. Mai 2015

The Warsaw Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra offered a program of Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Their performance at Cadogan Hall had outstanding moments but overall felt unremarkable.

Gergiev and the LSO in Brahms and Szymanowski choral works

Von Paul Kilbey, 30. März 2013

I don’t think Valery Gergiev has ever been out to claim that Brahms and Szymanowski were particularly similar composers. I certainly hope he hasn’t, at any rate, on the basis of his final LSO programme pairing the two of them.
