As if from nowhere, the bassoon’s lament over dark chords of deep basses; the glowing song of a dream image as the second theme. In the climax, Valčuha then also signalled the rebellion of a hero with wide arm sweeps towards blaring trumpet blasts, skilfully dampening the resigned fading of the movement. »
