Simone Lamsma is the soloist in Britten’s Violin Concerto, holding the Proms audience in the palm of her hands.

The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM), conductor Rafael Payare, and violin soloist Simone Lamsma joined forces in a program that featured seminal works by two musical titans who settled in the United States after fleeing Europe in the mid-twentieth century.

In a programme very much rooted in the spirit dance, Britten’s Violin Concerto shines through in Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall. 

 After a delightful opener by Suk, Simone Lamsma wows in stunning Sibelius with the RLPO before Rachmaninov's ill-fated, dramatic First Symphony completes the programme.
