Live, Video: Find classical music concert, opera, ballet and dance reviews | Venables

A strong cast led by Jacquelyn Stucker revive Philip Venables’ convincing operatic take on playwright Sarah Kane's final testament.

Inspired by Annie Ernaux’s The Years, Philip Venables’ new opera widens the canvas to take in the whole of Europe’s postwar generation.

An emotional work, structured like a strident television documentary tailored to a young audience.

Venables conceived a wealth of acoustic and visual components that constantly overlap and interact.

Biography, autobiography and the music of two composers combined in the latest BBC commission unveiled at the Proms.

Philip Venables' 4.48 Psychosis is the first musical adaptation of the eponymous play by Sarah Kane, which is the culmination of a three-year programme run jointly by the Royal Opera and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
