Music by a Scottish composer leads the Berkeley Ensemble's programme at the English Music Festival in Dorchester-on-Thames. 

Mark Bebbington and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra principals give full-blooded yet nuanced performances of chamber works by Ireland, Vaughan Williams and Elgar.

This candlelit evening at the atmospheric Sam Wanamaker Playhouse with the Chilingirian String Quartet and friends had more of a cosy Christmas feel than yet another World War I commemoration.

Red, white and blue bunting, with matching lighting, adorned the balconies of Cheltenham Town Hall, setting a patriotic scene for a concert of music from the year that World War I ended. Television presenter Julia Somerville opened the evening sat at a vintage newsdesk with her own careful research, for which she can be highly commended.

Amici’s unique Friday night performance entitled Critics’ Choice entertained requests from three notable music critics and connoisseurs from the greater Toronto area. It also featured a composition by Ezra John Pablo, a grade 12 student in the Claude Watson Arts Program at Earl Haig Secondary School.

Liya Petrova, Aurélien Pascal et Alexandre Kantorow étaient accompagnés de Charlotte Juillard et Grégoire Vecchioni pour livrer une version de référence du Quintette d'Elgar salle Cortot.

Pour le deuxième concert du festival aixois, deux créations de Bastien David et David Hudry se mêlaient au chant de Respighi et au Quintette d'Elgar, avec une pléiade de chambristes talentueux.
