The Met Orchestra performs a program that highlights its enormous range under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Soprano Angel Blue—one of today’s leading singers at the Metropolitan Opera and beyond—joins in Bernstein’s Symphony No. 1, “Jeremiah.” Antrópolis, by Carnegie Hall’s 2024–2025 Debs Composer’s Chair Gabriela Ortiz, offers a reflection of Mexico City as told through its legendary dance halls. The orchestral suite from Terence Blanchard’s acclaimed Fire Shut Up in My Bones receives its New York premiere, melding influences from the worlds of opera, jazz, and more. The concert concludes with a longtime audience favorite: Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony.
