The Opernhaus Zürich revives Tatjana Gürbaca’s uninspiring production of Verdi’s masterpiece, with a solid cast under the baton of Leonardo Sini.

Zurich Opera revives a successful production of Rossini’s masterpiece with a strong cast for a fun, entertaining New Year’s Eve. 

Andreas Homoki’s production suffers from last season's Covid restrictions, resulting in an alienating, aloof performance, but under the energetic baton of Marco Armiliato, it still proves a very successful musical evening.

Gürbaca’s production is a wacky new take on a Donizetti classic, one that will not perhaps be to all tastes. 

In its revival here in Zurich, the soloists and choir of Beethoven's Fidelio give stellar vocal performances. But having done away with any real set, the opera was not without its shortcomings.
