From outstanding oratorios like Messiah to breathtakingly beautiful opera melodies like those from Rinaldo and Giulio Cesare and extravaganzas like Music for the Royal Fireworks – the greatest hits of his time were penned by Handel and he was feted like a superstar. In BRIDGES, Baroque superstar Handel meets the current greats of the pop and rock music scene. Together with Staatskapelle Halle and sought-after singers, the Handel Festival invites pop and rock acts to perform new arrangements of their songs with a large-scale orchestra. Against the unique, natural backcloth of the Galgenberg Gorge, Handel’s most magnificent melodies meld with current hits making for a very special musical show. And in 2026, the format is evolving: local bands will perform from 7pm, the main programme kicks off at 9pm – and after the fireworks accompanying Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, you can party the night away to the sound of electronic music. An evening to hear and enjoy music, picnic and dance – for all Handel Festival visitors and all the people of Halle.
