The death of Mozart’s mother cast its shadow over his Violin Sonata in E minor, written far from home in Paris in 1778. Hana Chang, a winner of the 2023 Young Classical Artists Trust and Concert Artists Guild International Auditions held at Wigmore Hall, is joined by Arthur Hinnewinkel, presently training at Belgium’s Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. They move from Mozart to the lively charms of Sibelius’s Five Pieces and Grieg’s Second Violin Sonata, a radiant product of the composer’s honeymoon.
