Hear enchanting works by Igor Stravinsky and Benjamin Britten, two of the 20th century’s greatest composers, in concert on the Opera House’s main stage. Music director and Royal Court Kapellmeister Alan Gilbert conducts.
The Royal Swedish Orchestra is celebrating its 500th anniversary, and will perform Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring – the modernist ballet that was a notorious success when it premièred in Paris in 1913. Two works by Britten will also be performed: the orchestral suite »Four Sea Interludes« from the opera Peter Grimes, and the serenade, featuring tenor Michael Weinius and German horn player Stefan Dohr.
