Bruce Liu’s magnetic charisma is coming to L’Auditori in an intimate format with a programme spanning two centuries of virtuosity and poetry. At the heart of the programme, we will have two paradigmatic Beethoven sonatas: Sonata No. 14, Op. 27/2 “Moonlight”, with its night-time lyricism and almost visionary quality, and the powerful Sonata No. 21, Op. 53, “Waldstein”, symbolising an orchestral piano that opens the doors to Romanticism.

Between these two poles, the recital will be a journey of contrasts that will bring us closer to the rhythmic modernity of György Ligeti, the cantabile elegance of Frédéric Chopin, the incandescent colours of Maurice Ravel, and the impressionistic evocativeness of Claude Debussy. The dialogue with Frederic Mompou – with his glosses on “Au clair de lune” – provides an introspective and essential perspective, and will set the stage for Franz Liszt’s dazzling Spanish Rhapsody to set this very stage on fire with its brilliance and virtuoso temperament, concluding a versatile recital that combines structural depth and sonic fantasy as it explores the piano as a laboratory of ideas and space for direct emotion, all in an accessible, vibrant experience.
