The Gildas Quartet are a superb ensemble with a fine blended chamber sound that really resonates with audiences. They have performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, live on Radio 3, at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and many other prestigious venues. They also specialise in Surround Sound performances, in which they perform in and amongst the audience to create a very special and innovative way for listeners to experience great chamber music.
Known for its bold and engaging performances, the quartet was recognised with the Audience Engagement Award first prize at the International Franz Schubert and Modern Music Competition, Graz.
Passionate advocates of music from all periods, the quartet enjoys collaborations with renowned musicians and composers. They have worked closely with Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Colin Matthews, Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Philip Cashian, among others.
