Elisabeth Leonskaja has had an illustrious career as a pianist spanning some 60 years, and this modest queen of the instrument still captivates audiences with her colourful playing and inspired interpretation. She will play the beautiful Piano Concerto No. 24 in C-minor by W.A. Mozart, which is one of his best-known and most played piano concertos.

Tomáš Hanus, principal guest conductor of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, then leads the orchestra through the magnificent Má vlast by his compatriot, the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana. The piece has never been performed here before in its entirety. It is comprised of six independent tone poems, all of which are related to the nature and history of Bohemia. The second tone poem, Moldau, is by far the best-known part of the work and has been performed many times by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
