The second concert in our 2026-2027 season traces music from 1721 to 1938. We begin with Britten’s 1938 sparkling Sinfonietta, then trace it back to Bach and forward to Stravinsky. This programme celebrates music as conversation – solo lines stepping forward, intertwining and passing ideas between them – revealing how, across three centuries, composers have continually rediscovered the expressive power of smaller, more intimate orchestral writing.
