In this the 5th showcase of the Worshipful Company of Musicians’ biennial New Elizabethan Award, the brilliant young Japanese guitarist, Tohi Harada, demonstrates the timeless, universal appeal of solo repertoire composed for the lute and guitar during the two golden ages of Elizabethan music. Across a span of over 450 years his insightful programme explores structural, stylistic and expressive parallels between linked compositions: the old prefiguring the new, and the present reconnecting vividly with the past.
