This program brings together six concertos by Vivaldi, drawn from both his orchestral and solo repertory. Scored for a variety of instrumental combinations, the works highlight the composer’s approach to contrast, color, and virtuosity. The selection ranges from the multi-soloist Concerto for Four Violins to “Winter” from The Four Seasons. Many of these pieces were written for the musicians of Venice’s Ospedale della Pietà, where Vivaldi spent much of his career, and reflect the technical command of its performers.
