Christie and his ensemble have form with Handel: their landmark 1993 recording of Messiah surprised and delighted listeners with its Gallic lightness of touch. Three decades on, Christie’s vision of this great choral classic may have matured and deepened, but these are performers who always have something to say in a masterpiece that always has something new to offer.
