Joana Carneiro returns to the Royal College of Music conduct the RCM Philharmonic in the dramatic Leonore Overture, an instrumental summation of the opera Fidelio. Here, the heroine is Leonore, who disguises herself as Fidelio in order to rescue her beloved husband.
RCM Concerto Competition winner Markus Sadler plays the Piano Concerto no 3 by another 20th century innovator: Bartók, who weaves folk music into a work of intricate layers and rich harmony.
