The Organ Matinee series, in which Sweden’s leading organists perform, has grown and become highly popular. The organ at Konserthuset Stockholm, with its magnificent façade, is one of the most renowned in Europe and, with its 6,100 pipes, also one of the largest.

Johannes Skoog is, from this season, Konserthuset’s organist and thereby also the artistic director of the organ series. He was awarded both First Prize and the Bach Prize at the 2024 Canadian International Organ Competition, the world’s largest organ competition. He is Court Organist and has performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls and cathedrals, including Notre-Dame in Paris, the Philharmonie de Paris and King’s College, Cambridge.

This programme spans from the clarity of Johann Sebastian Bach to Brad Mehldau’s modern, Bach-inspired rondo. We move between Jehan Alain’s Renaissance-inflected style and Herbert Howells’s English mysticism, and are also drawn into Sergei Prokofiev’s motoric outbursts.
