An evening of Romantic masterpieces from three of the era's most celebrated talents.

Rachmaninov's gripping First Concerto was written while he was still a student at the Moscow Conservatory - no wonder Tchaikovsky considered him Russia's greatest rising talent.

Composed with amazing fluency in just a month, Dvorák submitted his enchanting Symphony No.8 to Cambridge University as a 'thank-you' for an honorary doctorate.

Le 26 avril, le Philharmonia Orchestra proposait sous la baguette de Youri Temirkanov un beau programme Rimsky-Korsakov/Rachmaninov/Dvořák, avec Daniil Trifonov au piano. Si le jeune soliste a déployé tout son génie, l’orchestre pourtant d’un très bon niveau n’a pas été aussi convaincant.
