In 2013 world-renowned choir The Sixteen will present its most far-reaching Choral Pilgrimage tour yet, encompassing 34 concerts around the UK and Ireland. The tour, entitled The Queen of Heaven, will see the choir perform glorious music in churches and cathedrals for which it was written. This will be a must-hear event where the group will take you through the musical evolution of the Allegri’s legendary and much-requested Miserere. The programme also features stunning music by the ‘Prince of Music’ Palestrina, as well as another brilliant yet contrasting setting of the Miserere by James MacMillan.

Heavenly music: The Sixteen in Oxford's Christ Church Cathedral

The programme notes for The Sixteen’s 2013 Choral Pilgrimage draw attention to how composers have been inspired by the grandeur and beauty of their places of worship and work. In this context, the setting for The Sixteen’s concert in Oxford was more than suitable. Completed in 1200, Christ Church Cathedral is a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
