Yunchan Lim’s magnetic style is coming to L’Auditori for what will be his Barcelona debut, in a programme featuring a surprisingly profound Mozart at his most luminous and theatrical. Renowned by international critics as a pianist who does not seek uniform perfection but rather a radiant sound canvas made up of diverse pieces thanks to his reverent and vital energy, this young Korean pianist will tackle five sonatas that reveal Mozart’s infinite expressive capacity.
From the almost intimate delicacy of Sonata No. 4 KV 282 and the expansive elegance of KV 333, to the energy of KV 311 and the gallant brilliance of KV 309, the programme will culminate with the famous KV 331 and its popular “Turkish March”, a reflection of 18th-century Vienna’s fascination with exotic Ottoman sounds. In Lim’s approach, thanks to his gift for turning transparency into emotion with his hands, classical music becomes a living, vibrant presence.
