Biennale Danza 2026 will feature over 60 events throughout the Festival, with a programme consisting entirely of new works: 9 world premieres, 3 European premieres, and 8 Italian premieres. The Festival reflects the evolution of contemporary dance languages, driven by the urgencies of our time and renewed by the vital energy of the artists’ cultures of origin. Deeply connected to the rhythms, landscapes, symbols, and histories of diverse traditions, these languages are channelled and reimagined through the body.
The 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance takes place in Venice, with events hosted across the city and nearby areas.
Shows, talks, workshops and other programme events will be held in La Biennale di Venezia’s Arsenale venues — Teatro alle Tese, Tese dei Soppalchi, Sale d’Armi and Teatro Piccolo Arsenale — as well as at Ca’ Giustinian and other locations. The programme will also extend to Mestre and the Venetian mainland.

Venice is easily reached by air, rail, and road. The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), about 15 km from the city centre, while Treviso Airport (TSF), around 40 km away, serves several international and low-cost routes. Both airports offer regular public transport connections into Venice.
Venezia Santa Lucia, located in the historic centre, is the city’s main railway station, with high-speed and regional services to major Italian and European cities. Venezia Mestre, on the mainland, is another important rail hub, offering frequent connections to Venice, the wider region, and beyond.
Venice offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit different budgets and preferences, from hotels and guesthouses to apartments and other short-stay options. Accommodation is available both in the historic city centre and in nearby areas such as Mestre and Marghera, which are well connected to the Festival venues by public transport.
Tourists will also have the opportunity to visit the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, titled In Minor Keys and curated by Koyo Kouoh, on view from Saturday, 9 May through Sunday, 22 November 2026. This offers an additional cultural highlight for visitors spending time in Venice during the festival period.
There is no specific dress code for the Festival, and attendees generally dress comfortably according to their personal preferences and planned activities.
