Festival: It's All About Piano!

Biographie

March 27 - 29 2015

It’s All About Piano, one of the most exciting and intensive piano festivals that London has seen in years.

Jessica Duchen, Classical Music Magazine

From 27 to 29 march 2015, the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and Kings Place join forces for It’s All About Piano!, a 3-day long festival that will bring together high-calibre pianists from all horizons – from different styles, repertoires, countries and generations.

This third It’s All About Piano! edition will feature a wide range of imaginative programmes including recitals, with some of the world’s greatest performers from François-Frédéric Guy to Peter Donohoe, Daria van den Bercken, Shani Diluka, and many more. Highlights also include Mikhail Rudy performing the UK premiere of his daring multimedia project with animated films by the Quay brothers, a piano improvisation by Cyprien Katsaris as part of a champagne tasting event, and the London premiere of La Fauvette Passerinette, a recently discovered and posthumously reconstructed piece by Messiaen, performed by Peter Hill.

The festival will also offer an accordion recital by 8-time world champion Julien Gonzales, a unique concert by the critically acclaimed Piano Brothers, as well as jazz concerts by high-class pianists from around the world including legendary British pianist John Taylor, French artists Edouard Ferlet and Pierre-Yves Plat, and American Dan Tepfer, who will improvise on a Yamaha Disklavier CFX.

The festival will host a number of special events including a ciné-concert, screenings, talks, and a masterclass by Angela Hewitt, one of the world’s leading pianists. Kids will also have many opportunities to immerse themselves into the wonders of music.

From classical recitals to contemporary music, from jazz to discovery events, It’s All About Piano! is a festival for all, from music aficionados to passers-by. Just bring your ears, your eyes and your curiosity!
