English National Ballet's current Nutcracker shows off the brilliance of the dancers across the ranks but after many years, the weaknesses in the plot and characterisation remain flawed.

Despite excellent performances, time needs to be called on Wayne Eagling's Nutcracker. 

Despite confused storytelling in Wayne Eagling's version of ETA Hoffmann's tale, ENB's Nutcracker has some lovely dancing. 

Wayne Eagling’s version for English National Ballet, however, risks confusing those new to ballet – and a few more experienced hands – thanks to muddled storytelling.  

There is much to like about the English National Ballet Nutcracker, but it could be so much more.
