C’est aux sons hispaniques et pyrénéens que sont dédiés les concerts des 5 et 6 août de la rencontre pradéenne de 2024 à l’Abbaye Saint-Michel de Cuxa.

Xavier de Maistre gives the Singapore premiere of Ginastera's Harp Concerto, while Pierre Bleuse conducts two of Respighi's Roman trilogy.

Valiant and assured, Spanish prodigy María Dueñas was the driving force in Ortiz's Violin Concerto, Altar de cuerda (Altar of strings).

El inusual conjunto formado por Lucero Tena y Xavier de Maistre, castañuelas y arpa, ofrecieron en el Teatro de la Zarzuela un recital con obras de maestros españoles.

Augustin Hadelich is an authoritative interpreter in Bartók's Second Violin Concerto, while Alan Gilbert and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester never quite succeed in scaling the heights of Bruckner 7.

The young Finnish conductor, stepping in on short notice, led an incandescent performance of Beethoven’s Symphony no. 7. Augustin Hadelich was an excellent soloist in Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto no. 2.

After London's farewell to Bernard Haitink the evening before, Andrés Orozco-Estrada had a tough act to follow with the Vienna Philharmonic. We needn't have worried.

Roberto Plano offered a colorfully diverse selection of solo pieces before joining forces with Cleveland Orchestra members for Brahms' Piano Quintet.

Even if Hubert Parry was overshadowed by Holst and Vaughan Williams, this was a splendid concert of British music.

Xavier de Maistre gave a stunning performance of the Concierto de Aranjuez in the version for harp and orchestra, plus Ligeti and Tchaikovsky's ultra-Romantic Manfred in Belgrade.

Mahler 5 shows the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at its most expressive.

The Royal Northern Sinfonia directed by Bradley Creswick and featuring the guitar soloist Craig Ogden offer an enterprising mixture of works and styles.

Craig Ogden’s easy manner immediately puts an audience at ease. With his comfortable assuredness and witty repartee, Ogden is able to facilitate an unusual sense of intimacy in such a large auditorium as St. David’s Hall, Cardiff. Indeed, seeing Ogden in concert is like being transported to an old friend’s living room, where you sit and chat, watching them play guitar – extremely well.
