Sung in Italian with Swesidh surtitles

Young Manon is torn between her love for the poor student Des Grieux and the luxury that a rich older protector can offer. She chooses love, but when the young lovers try to escape, Manon is arrested for prostitution and deported to Louisiana. Manon Lescaut is a merciless story about the power of money, male desire and a young woman’s road to perdition.

Puccini’s first great success, Manon Lescaut, gives one of the most poignant portrayals of a female character in all of opera. Puccini’s ability to create music that captures the hearts of the audience is just as powerful here as in his more famous works, La Bohème and Tosca. Spectacular scenery, splendid rococo costumes and beautiful Italian singing unite in the long-awaited return of this classical production, with world renowned soprano Asmik Grigorian playing the lead role.
