SunMi Park makes a promising debut as the Swan Queen with ABT

There is nothing quite comparable to an Odette/Odile debut (unless you’re a basketball fanatic, that is!) in Swan Lake. Well worth watching, and noting, SunMi Park’s progression through ABT.

A spectacular triple bill lifts ABT’s spring season in New York

A finely curated triple bill from American Ballet Theatre included works from Balanchine, Jiří Kylián and Alexei Ratmansky.

American Ballet Theatre: Twyla Tharp still has it!

Twyla@60: A Tharp Celebration is an overall triumph though not just for Tharp, but for Susan Jaffe’s vision for American Ballet Theatre.

American Ballet Theatre: Super-Giselle lives up to the hype (mostly)

ABT's Giselle was the kind of glamorous, old-school ABT night of yore. You sensed the entire company leveled up for the occasion. One hopes that Smirnova will return in the future.

American Ballet Theatre's Like Water for Chocolate nails the climax

Wheeldon’s choreography eschews the sweep and expanse of classical ballet for gravity-succumbing floor rolls and lots of twirling, swirling and swishy port de bras.

ABT's Ballet Imperial/The Dream: a weak start but a triumphant end

The Dream is such a crowdpleaser that one wishes ABT would do this more often in their Met season, but Ballet Imperial needed more time to relax into.
