The Australian Ballet's Swan Lake: the archetypal ballet

The Australian Ballet’s current production of Swan Lake is ballet at its best: beautiful classical dance and music, intense emotion, exquisite costumes, dramatic sets and lighting.

A missed opportunity but with great musical values

The Metropolitan Opera's new produdtion of Rusalka fails to explore a deeper complexity of the fairy tale, although a strong ensemble of singers and the superb Met Orchestra make it a musically compelling performance.

Passionate Lucia di Lammermoor at The Met

Diana Damrau knocks it “out of the park” in Met's La Sonnambula

This year’s revival of Mary Zimmerman’s La Sonnambula at the Met requires too much suspension of disbelief to seriously work, but it provides a fun and vibrant take on Bellini’s bel canto opera all the same. In the title role, Diana Damrau knocked it out of the park.
