In Scotland, the world of tapestry has been emerging in an exciting revival, bringing this too often overlooked art form into focus. In 2010 the 104-metre Prestonpans tapestry of embroidered panels was unveiled, celebrating the journey 25-year-old Bonnie Prince Charlie made from France, then through the Scottish Highlands to victory at the Scottish town of Prestonpans.
RSNO Chamber Series: Verklärte Nacht
It was the first time I'd been fully clothed in this venue. Prior to its 2008 reinvention, Dovecot Studios was the oldest of Edinburgh's six Victorian swimming pools. Now a tapestry studio and exhibition space, it doubles as a resonant chamber music venue. The musicians occupied the shallow end, amply lit by bright Edinburgh skies through the lengthy cupola.
