What is it about Arvo Pärt’s ‘Angel Music’ that appeals to the dying? Vanishing Point’s theatre and Scottish Ensemble’s playing combine to produce a thoughtful and poignant performance.  

In her short introductory remarks at the evening’s outset, Sally Beamish referenced Oscar Wilde’s The Nightingale and the Rose, wherein in the redness of a rose is secured by a nightingale’s pierced heart.

New opera at the Edinburgh Traverse is becoming an exciting annual date not to be missed. Music Theatre Wales made a return visit with In the Penal Colony by Philip Glass after their successful presentation of Letters of Love Betrayed in 2009. Before that, Lyall Creswell’s Good Angel, Bad Angel set a very high standard.
