Paris, France. Hanna, a wealthy widow, is being pressured by Baron Zeta to marry Count Danilo for political reasons. Danilo and Hanna once had an affair but now he refuses to marry her so that no one can think he is after her money. She, on the other hand, refuses to marry him unless he tells her he loves her. After a series of vicissitudes, Hanna admits she would lose her fortune if she did remarry, so he declares his love for her and everything ends happily.
Franz Lehár's famous operetta, one of the most widely performed works in opera houses throughout the world, is back at the Liceu after a 37-year absence.
Conductor Josep Pons offers us a selection of excerpts in concert version.
