For The Rake’s Progress Stravinsky joined forces with WH Auden to create a very modern morality tale from the seedy underbelly of Hogarth’s London. Tom Rakewell is a single man in possession of a good fortune, and we all know how that ends … don’t we? Outrageous, uproarious and laced with pitch-black humour, professional stagings are still relatively rare: so with Vladimir Jurowski conducting an unbeatable cast, this one-off concert performance makes an offer you’d be mad to refuse.
Concert generously supported by Victoria Robey OBE.
