A worthwhile addition to the locker of lockdown digital dance.

It is good to see Birmingham Royal Ballet in such fine fettle. This triple bill is well conceived and deftly performed. Not always flawless in its execution, but a five star programme nonetheless.

A welcome development during the current refurbishment of the Royal Opera House, perhaps to compensate for the temporary absence of the Linbury Studio Theatre, downstairs, is the recent opening up of the Clore Studio Upstairs to present brief works ahead of main stage production.

A world premiere that shows Alexander Whitley to be at the leading edge of new movement.  There are no stars in this 8 Minutes, other than the Sun.   

At 90, Rambert is the undisputed "grande dame" of British dance. Ever rigorous in the pursuit of innovation and collaboration, it is fitting that company director Mark Baldwin has chosen to celebrate this anniversary with an evening of work showcasing home grown talent. 

Ahead of the première of his new pièce, The Grit in the Oyster set to Adès' Piano Quintet, Alexander Whitley talked to us of his musical choices, and his choreographic process.
