Performer: Hermes Helfricht

Biography

Hermes Helfricht has collaborated with many European orchestras and has a remarkable repertoire that ranges from Baroque to contemporary music.

He has worked, among others, with the Bruckner Orchester Linz (Austria), Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Staatskapelle Halle, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra (Estonia) and the Philharmonic Orchestra Zielona Góra (Poland). Since 2014 Helfricht works with the National Youth Orchestra of Spain as Assistant Conductor. In season 2015/16 he was engaged as Kapellmeister at the opera house Erfurt and conducted Carmen, The Land of Smiles and Evita. In February 2016 Helfricht made his debut with Eugene Onegin at the Theatre St Gallen (Switzerland). Since beginning of the current season Hermes Helfricht is 1. Kapellmeister at the Theatre St Gallen and conducts Le nozze di Figaro, Tosca and Nabucco.

Born in 1992 in Radebeul near Dresden, Hermes started to play the piano at the age of five. For nine years he was a member of the Kreuzchor Dresden and made guest appearances as a boy soloist in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Komische Oper Berlin.

Helfricht studied orchestral conducting at the University of Arts Berlin with Lutz Köhler and Steven Sloane. In 2013, Hermes won a scholarship to Dirigentenforum of the German Music Council.
