Odyssey Opera makes a convincing case that The Last Savage’s time has come.

Michael Shell's sparkling new production of La Cenerentola, built locally, opens the season at the Lyric Opera Kansas City. 

Two charming operas featured splendid singing in a haze of choreography, staging and projections in a setting that had the feel of being live in a surround sound movie theater. 

The opera can be summed up by a line sung by the Countess in Act 4: “You’re killing her with all this noise.”
