Over the last five years, 115 of New York City's dance artists have found a haven in the vast city university system known as CUNY. 11 of them shared the stage to celebrate the CUNY Dance Initiative's 5th anniversary.

The dancers of the Martha Graham Dance Company may have been doing the repertoire of Ms Graham since the company’s inception in 1926, but Wednesday night’s program – featuring the work of four other choreographers – was proof that these are remarkably versatile dancers, capable of interpreting myriad forms of modern dance assuredly.

“I wanted to chart a graph of the heart – to reveal the inner landscape.”– Martha Graham.The iconic dancer and choreographer’s words are a theme throughout Inner Landscape. All the works presented have strong characterization, no matter how abstract, and focus on the internal feelings of each protagonist.
