Performer: Modigliani Quartet

The Paris-based Quatuor Modigliani are joined by special guests for an evening of Schubert quintets in Évian-les-Bains. 

An all-Schumann chamber music concert doesn’t come around that often even at the Wigmore Hall, so I was delighted that the Modigliani Quartet presented a programme of his major chamber works with pianist Beatrice Rana.

To lose a player on the eve of a tour is nothing short of a disaster for a string quartet. However, substitute cellist Christophe Morin fits in well with the rest of the Modigliani Quartet in a revised program in Sydney. 

Modigliani Quartet - HaydnString Quartet in B flat Op. 76 No. 4 'Sunrise' String Quartet in G Op. 77 No. 1 The Quatuor Amedeo Modigliani - Philippe Bernhard, and Loïc Rio, violins, Laurent Marfaing,viola and François Kieffer, 'cello -comes garlanded with prizes.

Aux Rencontres musicales d'Évian, le quatuor des directeurs artistiques a montré l'exemple dans la musique de Brahms. Remarquables Quatuors opus 51 n° 1 et opus 67, avant un excellent quintette avec Benjamin Grosvenor.
