Berg's concerto “To the Memory of an Angel” is played with heart-melting beauty; David Afkham and the Orchestre national de Lyon offer pleasant, but unmemorable, Beethoven and Brahms.

Le Concerto pour orchestre du compositeur polonais a bénéficié de la direction très convaincante de la cheffe et de l'application des musiciens de l'ONL, après une première partie moins aboutie avec Thomas Zehetmair en soliste.

Le chef-d'œuvre monumental de Mahler a bien sonné avec toute sa grandeur et sa majesté, mais la mosaïque de ses détails n'a pas livré tous ses secrets.

Après une convaincante première partie de concert consacrée à Bacewicz et Tansman, la phalange lyonnaise a paru plus en retrait dans Harold en Italie, cédant le feu des projecteurs à l'éternel Antoine Tamestit.

Si l'œuvre du jazzman exprime peu les couleurs d'un Orchestre national de Lyon au grand complet, elle a le mérite de son accessibilité, avant une seconde partie Strauss-Ravel plus volubile.

Pas de clinquant, pas d’effet de manche, mais des doigts de magiciens et une émotion intime : le récital de Francesco Piemontesi à l'Auditorium de Lyon a marqué les esprits.
